What is a creative visualization?

Creative visualization is a technique of dynamic sleep, in which you are completely relaxed and aware. It is also called yoga nidra. With the creative visualization technique, we enter very sensitive and impressionable state of mind. Children can enter this state more easily then adults.
The mind is constantly active, restless, and full of worries, whether we are sleeping or awake. In order to rest completely, you must be relaxed and stay conscious. With this exercise, you will prepare your mind for relaxation. When practicing yoga nidra, we keep the rhythmic basis for relaxation of the mind. When you consistently provide the same basis for the mind, it becomes single-focused and relaxed.
Science of yoga nidra is based on the fact that our consciousness is impressionable. When the consciousness works together with intellect, it is less impressionable and more critical. If the consciousness operates with one sensory channel, it is very - but not fully - sensitive. When it gets deprived of all connection with the senses, the consciousness becomes fully sensitive. Full sensitivity leads to high impressionability, giving the mind a great ability to absorb any information or affirmation.

The power of Sankalpa or intention

Every human being has many qualities which can be expressed in one's life, and the most important thing we need to realize this qualities or goals, is a direction. If you want to become an artist, writer or speaker, you have to direct yourself towards your goal. In creative visualization, we use an intention or sankalpa. This intention must be made in a quiet state of mind in order to experience the maximum effect. Before you start the creative visualization technique, you have to repeat sankalpa. The sankalpa at the beginning of the creative visualization is much like planting a seed. The same sankalpa repeated at the end is like watering this seed. The intention must be a positive one. With the creative visualization, we can open our inner abilities such as memory, sensitivity, intelligence, ability to control the senses, and much more.

The difference between creative visualization and hypnosis

Although many people think of yoga nidra as one form of hypnosis, it is something entirely different. These two techniques start from the same point of relaxation, but they are heading in completely different directions. In the creative visualization, our brain is fully awake, while our senses are asleep. We are completely conscious. Here, the instructor is our guide, leading us through the technique, but not forcing us to anything. In fact, it is the technique itself that leads us to results and to certain states of awareness. In hypnosis, a person enters a state of deep sleep, during which the brain is turned off, while the therapist directs the will and mind of the patients in order to change their behavior patterns, or for some other reason. Therefore, the creative visualization is a technique that you control on your own. It only helps you enter a state of complete relaxation and impressionability in order to help you achieve your goal.

Creative visualization can be practiced by:
        - Small children (to change a negative habit or behavior)
        - Students (for better and easier learning)
        - If you want to get over addictions, mental illnesses or change a certain character pattern
        - Those who want to grow in their spiritual life, using it as a technique for withdrawing the senses
