GODDESS LAKSHMI AND THE EIGHT ASPECTS OF LAKSHMI
There are eight aspects of Lakshmi, and through the practice of worshiping her, we will understand, enrich, and enliven all of these eight aspects.
- The first aspect of Lakshmi is Adi Lakshmi. She is a genuine, authentic cosmic form of Lakshmi. She represents the beginning and has transcendental characteristics.
- Second Lakshmi is called Dhanya Lakshmi. This is the goddess of crops and vegetation. In Greece, she is known as Demeter, who carries a rosebud, wheat and corn. Food is essential for our survival and that is the divine gift to man.
- Vira Lakshmi is the third aspect, and it represents the strength and courage. This Lakshmi often carries a disc, an arrow, a spear and a bow. She uses those to chase off the enemies of vitality: fear, indecision, laziness, and confusion. She blows into a shell and produces Pranava, creating a sound that purifies the darkness.
- The fourth aspect is Gaja Lakshmi, which means the elephant. She has elephants by her side. An elephant represents wisdom, endurance and longevity. This Lakshmi embodies the fertility and richness of our ideas.
- The fifth Lakshmi is called Santhana Lakshmi. She represents continuity and prosperity of family. She helps us get through the hard times and move on.
- The sixth aspect is Vijaya Lakshmi, the goddess of victory. She usually has eight hands that hold the weapons. Two hands perform mudras. First one is Adhaya, which means "do not fear" and the other one is Varadha, which means "giving a blessing". She removes all fear. The seventh aspect is Aishvarya Lakshmi. Her name means sovereignty.
- The seventh aspect is Aishvarya Lakshmi, which means sovereignty, independence. Through the perfecting of our sadhana, we are becoming rulers of our consciousness and gaining her favor.
- The eighth aspect is Prana Lakshmi. She is the bright goddess of wealth, shown standing or sitting in a lotus flower in full bloom. She wears many decorations, wreaths of fresh flowers, earrings, bracelets, a golden crown and red sari with a golden border. One of her hands is in the position which grants the wishes and from it falls the endless flow of golden coins. This is the Lakshmi which will give you wealth, abundance, success in your work, and family stability.
